First day in Vientiane! The Holy mens Day!

I was taken to the bus by the Guest House man, back on his moto! It was a short ride and there was the bus. Two stories and it was a real sleeper bus! I had to share the space with a young man from Vientiane! It was much more comfertable than a seated bus!

I slept some hours totally befors the sun was rising over the Mekong river. It's the border between Laos and Thailand and we followed it all the way! We arrived in Vientiane around 8am. I took a shared tuk tuk with a lot of local people and I got a "sight seeing" in rural areas during 45 min before leaving me in the centre!

Sunrice from the bus window!

I walk to the Guest House and I was welcommed and it's a nice place! Clean and my room is on the 4th floor. I went out for a breakfast directly and that tasted good! Back for an even nicer shower and a rest before heading out on town!
I walked down to the river passing a nice restaurant and decided to eat there tonight! On the other side of the river is Thailand! Hadn't thought about that before!
I walk up again from the river and here are quite a few tourist that are staying at one of the many guest houses.
I walked passing the new Lao National Cultural Hall which looked very nice. Lonely Planet talks about shows there but that looked strange as it still is a construction site.

Opposite is the Lao National Museum and I walked thru quite fast. One picture stroce me and that was the number of bombs that th US dropped during the Vietnam war, over Laos!

After the museum I stopped at "Carol Cassidy Lao Textile", where the women made bestuful peaces of silk at the looms! The woman in charge spook Swedish as she'd been working at the Swedish embassy for many years!

Walked back and stopped for a nice strawberry smothie before going to the Guest House for a short rest!
Out again and I walked down to the river again and saw this nice Chinese Tempel and further away the huge statue of a man holding out his hand torwards Thailand!

Now it was time for dinner at the nice rest. It wasn't open yet but I took a Gin Tonic while waiting. The meny had a three courses dinner with a paté, follow by a fish and ended by a cheese cake! A glass of Chardonnay with the fish tasted great. The first wine and drink I've had on the journey so fare.
The total cost for all of it was 185 SEK !!! The Holy mens Day!!
Back to the bed for a hopefully nice sleep! Good night!

Sunset over Thailand!
