I started walking and the goal was the Lao National Opera Theatre. When I got there I realized it was not for me (or anybody else). It looked closed and it was!
I continued and passed the Lao Art Museum and that was quite nice. Further down the road I passed the Lao Olympic Stadium and the local swimming pool. I walked back torwards town again and I passed some really nice sport shops!
Back again for a lunch and then I realized that I had missed maybe the most important Stupa. I rented a mountain bike and went passing "l'arc de Triumph" and out to the place - Pha That Luang - a big area arond this famous Stupa! I had to pay the normal entrece fee, 5.000 kir = 5 SEK! It was worth coming here. This Stupa represents Laos on many pictures and paintings!
I saw a lot on my way back so this was an interesting cycle tour! I came back along the Mekong river and returned the bike! The monks I met walking along the river side!
After an Iced coffee Lao stile and an almond cake, I walked back for a rest - I had missed the massage place on the way back - its not always so easy to read those maps!
Out again and I went to a very nice restaurant for dinner. Dark Lao beer and it was happy hour, so two! A good lamb and after a chokolate mousse! Mmmm...
Now back to the room - tomorrow I'll take the bus to Vieng Vang - once the place for different types of narcotics like opium etc, but today a nice resort according to the book!
Me and my really good bike!
Sounds like a really nice day - I really like today’s Buddha, it really is beautiful! and I like your really good bike! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt comes up so many memories from us in Nepal when I read about all the Stupas, Buddha´s, Pagodas and more - like it!!
